Dried Fruit Jewels
It's wonderful to have lovely little cheerful
tidbits on hand during the holiday season to serve to your friends
and family when they drop in unexpectedly for a cup of tea or for
dessert. For a change of pace from cookies and pastries, try
serving these exquisite (and easy!) little morsels. You can make a
bunch of them ahead of time, and keep them in a closed container in
the refrigerator, then just pull them out as need. Children can
help prepare these, too.
Rather than give you a
recipe for these, I'm going to give you a description.
There are three
elements:
Dried fruit (apricot halves–or pitted date or prune
halves)
Softened cream cheese
Toasted almonds--or walnut or pecan halves
There is one simple
method:
- Place a dab of cream cheese inside the fruit.
- Attach a nut to the cheese,
- Gently squeeze the fruit around the filling, to close it
slightly.
Make a million of them and
have fun!
